Insights into Animal
Scheduled for theatrical release on December 1, Animal’s initial launch date of August 11, 2023, was deferred due to pending post-production endeavors. T-Series officially announced Animal on January 1, 2021, through a video featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Parineeti Chopra, with Sandeep Reddy Vanga directing. Tripti Dimri was later reported to join the cast, while in March 2022, Rashmika Mandanna replaced Parineeti Chopra, opting for Imtiaz Ali’s Chamkila over Animal. Rashmika assumes the role of Geetanjali, Ranbir’s spouse.
Ranbir’s Rationale for Embracing Animal
In a discourse with Variety, Ranbir expounded on his decision to embrace Animal and addressed whether he had viewed Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh, both criticized for perpetuating misogyny.
Ranbir elucidated, “Truthfully, the script of Animal captivated me. It’s a distinctive and intense narrative that immediately seized my attention. While I did watch Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh, finding them profoundly powerful, my decision to embrace Animal was not contingent solely upon those films. It was more about the script, the character, and the prospect of collaborating with Sandeep Reddy Vanga.”
