“Unmasking the Pain: Shikhar Dhawan’s Divorce Story Exposes Hidden Agony”

“In the precincts of Patiala House Complex in Delhi, the Family Court, while granting approval for the dissolution of the marital union of cricketer Shikhar Dhawan, pronounced a verdict. The court deliberated upon the protracted separation imposed upon Shikhar Dhawan by his spouse, subjecting him to emotional anguish for years.

Delhi Court grants Shikhar Dhawan divorce on grounds of cruelty by wife

A court in Delhi sanctioned Shikhar Dhawan‘s divorce, cognizant of the fact that India’s seasoned cricketer had endured cruelty and mental distress at the hands of his estranged wife, Ayesha Mukherjee.

Within the precincts of Patiala House Complex in Delhi, the Family Court, in endorsing Shikhar Dhawan’s divorce, articulated that his wife had compelled him to remain apart from his only son for an extended duration, thereby inflicting mental agony upon the cricketer. The presiding judge, Harish Kumar, acknowledged all allegations leveled by Dhawan against his wife in the divorce petition.

Dhawan had asserted in his divorce plea that his spouse had subjected him to mental cruelty. In October 2012, Shikhar Dhawan entered into wedlock with Ayesha Mukherjee, who bore two daughters from her previous marriage. Notably, Ayesha had alluded to seeking a divorce in a social media post in 2021.

Early this year, in an interview with India Today, Shikhar Dhawan also discussed this issue, emphasizing his inability to discern the red flags in his relationship. He stated, ‘I failed because the final decision lies with the individuals involved. I don’t point fingers at others. I failed because I lacked knowledge about that field. Today, when I talk about cricket, it’s because I have insights into it. This comes with experience,’ Dhawan remarked.

He added, ‘My divorce proceedings are currently underway. If I contemplate remarriage in the future, I will be more discerning in that realm. I will figure out what kind of woman I want; someone I can spend my life with.’

However, the court declined to issue any directive regarding the permanent custody of Dhawan and Ayesha Mukherjee’s son, who resides in India and Australia, where Ayesha Mukherjee lives. The court granted Dhawan the right to meet his son and engage in video calls for an appropriate duration.

The court also mandated that during school holidays, Ayesha Mukherjee should facilitate the child’s visit to India, allowing him to spend nights with Dhawan and his family. The court emphasized that petitioner Shikhar Dhawan, as a distinguished international cricketer, also holds rights as a citizen and a responsible father. Furthermore, the court remains vigilant about the child’s right to reside with his father and extended family during educational recesses.”
