In an encounter with terrorists today in Anantnag, Kashmir, the commanding officer of the National Rifles unit of the Indian Army, as well as a major and a deputy superintendent of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, all perished.

The individuals who lost their lives were identified as Colonel Manpreet Singh, the commanding officer of the 19 National Rifles unit, Major Ashish, and Police Deputy Superintendent Humayun Bhat, who happened to be the son of former Inspector General (IG) Gulam Hasan Bhat.

Before this incident today, security forces and terrorists had clashed in the Kokernag area of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir, leaving several officers from the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police injured.

On their official handle on the social media platform ‘X,’ the Jammu and Kashmir Police posted, “An encounter has begun in Kokernag area of Anantnag.

Officers from the Army and JKPP (Jammu and Kashmir Police) have been injured.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, during an encounter that started in the Narla area of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces eliminated two terrorists.

According to officials, during the ongoing encounter on Wednesday evening, security forces discovered a substantial amount of war material, including marked medicines from Pakistan.

Defense PRO Lieutenant Colonel Sunil Bartwal stated, “Soldiers encircled the terrorists and engaged in a heavy exchange of fire on September 12, during which one terrorist was killed that same night.

Despite adverse weather conditions and challenging terrain, the pursuit of the other terrorist continued, and he was eliminated on the morning of September 13.” He added that 63 RR personnel displayed the highest level of sacrifice, and three soldiers were injured along with an SPO (Special Police Officer).

The action also resulted in the death of a military dog.

Additionally, Jammu Police Director General (ADGP) Mukesh Singh stated, “In the ongoing encounter in the Narla area of Rajouri, the second terrorist has been neutralized.”
